Speaking of which, what is the latest patch version that was released for the game before Reforged came out?Īnd more importantly, where can I get it?Īll the sites that I search for the classic WC3 patches look fishy, with those huge 'DOWNLOAD' buttons, so I'm not sure what is a safe location I can use to download the official content for the game.
The question is, how can I install the latest pre-Reforged patch, without the game updating to the latest Reforged version? I still have my original CDs of Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne on hand, so I would install the game from there. I'm curious, but is there a way to avoid this and install WC3 normally without Reforged patches being installed on top of it? One thing that stuck out to me was that I heard that if you tried to install/play the classic WC3, the game will auto-update itself to include Reforged graphics and gameplay updates/mechanics/whatever. Most useful for running these games on Linux via Lutris scripts such as these.
I wasn't there when the Warcraft 3 Reforged got released, but I know it had a lot of bad reactions from the community. A Batch of two isos for the original versions of Warcraft III, including Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne, based on their release versions to prevent the original versions from becoming lost. I recently got the nostalgia to play Warcraft 3 after not playing it for a looong time.
